Our inspiration: A place to call home
The Syrian Community Center was created to bring people together and support Syrian families as they build a new life in the United States. Many members of our community came to Erie with hopes for safety, opportunity, and a better future for their families. While starting a new life can be exciting, it also comes with many challenges such as language barriers, cultural adjustment, and finding the right resources.
Overcoming challenges: Together we thrive
The idea for the Syrian Community Center was inspired by the need for a place where families could feel supported, connected, and welcomed. Community leaders recognized that many families needed guidance, cultural connection, and a strong support network to help them succeed. One of the biggest challenges we wanted to address was isolation and lack of access to information and resources for newcomers. By creating the Syrian Community Center, we aimed to provide a space where people could find support, share their culture, and build relationships with others in the community.
